Installation
The SpyAgent installation process is very straightforward and
designed to complete very quickly.
Preparing your Computer for the SpyAgent Installation
Before installing SpyAgent you may need to take some preparatory
steps to get your computer ready for its installation.
First, if you have any antivirus or antispyware
software installed you should disable it temporarily. Any auto-protect
or real-time scanning features should be turned off at this time.
When you are done installing SpyAgent you will want to exclude
SpyAgent's files from your antivirus's scanning - see the 'Configuring
your Antivirus/Antispyware' section below.
Second, if you are on Windows Vista or Windows
7 you will want to disable the UAC feature that Windows uses. The
UAC feature can prevent keystroke logging from working properly,
and/or saving settings changes within SpyAgent properly. For visual
how-to's on disabling UAC, please use the following links:

Vista UAC Disable | Windows 7 UAC Disable
Third, ensure you are installing under an account with Administrator
access. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can right click on the
SpyAgent installation file you downloaded and choose the 'Run as
Administrator' command to ensure this if you are not sure if your
user account is an administrator or not.
You can now proceed to installing SpyAgent.
Installing SpyAgent
To install SpyAgent simply run the installation software. SpyAgent
is very easy to use, and very easy to setup.
Note: If you are using
the Stealth Edition of SpyAgent you will not be prompted to configure
anything, as the software will install invisibly and start monitoring
instantly. You can change settings and access SpyAgent by following
the instructions on your SpyAgent
Stealth Instructions that you
received.
Upon your first run of SpyAgent you are instructed to
setup your password. If you have not done so already, please
do so before continuing. You need to setup your password to allow
for secure monitoring and configuration of SpyAgent.
Once your password is configured you now have two choices: manual
configuration using the options buttons on the right panel of the
SpyAgent interface - or the Easy Configuration Wizard.
If you choose to use the Easy Configuration Wizard you will be
prompted to answer several basic questions - once you answer them
all SpyAgent will be setup properly with all the logging you need.
If you wish to fully configure and customize SpyAgent you will
need to utilize the options panels within SpyAgent's user interface
(located by clicking on the individual buttons on the right panel
of SpyAgent; ie: General, Logging, Remote Log Delivery), or by accessing
the OPTIONS menu from the bottom panel of SpyAgent's interface.
Once you have configured your options you will be set to go! For
a graphical 'getting started' guide please refer to the Getting
Started section of this documentation.
Configuring your Antivirus/Antispyware
Before re-enabling your antivirus or antispyware you will want to
configure it to ignore SpyAgent's files now that it is installed.
For instructions, as well as a complete list of SpyAgent's files,
please visit our Antivirus
Exclusions page on our website. Once the exclusions
are made you can re-enable your antivirus.
Installation Paths
SpyAgent installs to the following locations by default. These
folders will be hidden so you will need to enable hidden file viewing
in Windows to see them.
Standard Installer: x:\program
files\spytech software\spytech spyagent\
Stealth Edition Installation Path: x:\program files\sysconfig\
If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows the above install
folders will be present in your x:\program files (x86)\ folder
instead of the x:\program files\ folder.
By installing SpyAgent you agree to the standard legal disclaimer
and EULA specified HERE.
